A man who arrested over 3,000 outlaws , rode with a swagger that made legends look like rookies, and—oh yeah— was born into slavery and rose to become one of the first Black U.S. Marshals west of the Mississippi. Actual chains. He was enslaved and forced to serve in the Confederate Army during the Civil War—but here's where the story turns cinematic.
